EXCITING PAHANG MINGGU SAINS 2019 EXPO SET TO BOOST STEM EDUCATION AND STI INITIATIVES 150 150 farah

KUANTAN, AUGUST 2– The second phase of the Minggu Sain Negara 2019 (MSN) exposition for Pahang is set to create an exciting environment that aims to promote and boost the importance of the science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) education and its relevant initiatives to the State’s progress and socio-economic wellbeing.

The Pahang MSN 2019 series, which is hosted by Technology Park Malaysia Corporation Sdn Bhd (TPM) in collaboration with the Pahang State Government, will be held over two days at the Dewan MPK Kuantan on August 2 and 3. It is to be officiated by Pahang Menteri Besar, YAB Dato’ Sri Wan Rosdy Wan Ismail.

The nationwide Minggu Sains Negara 2019 programme is initiated by the Ministry of Science, Energy, Technology, Environment and Climate Change (MESTECC). The initial phase was held at Pusat Sains Negara from 1-7 April 2019, while the second phase which involves Pahang and the remaining seven states are held this month.

The event is aimed at cultivating, condoning and applying science, technology and innovation (STI) in the everyday life of its citizens.

The Pahang Minggu Sains 2019 Expo series in Kuantan would enable the Government to deliver the important messages of STEM education and STI initiatives as well as the abundant opportunities available in the development and growth of a knowledge-based economy.

TPM strongly believes that this event could bring tremendous benefits to the rakyat, especially the school children and youth, on the wonders and tremendous benefits of science, technology and innovation.

With its theme, “Moh La Wei Berinovasi”, MSN 2019 will be an excellent platform to offer thousands of school children, university students and youth from Kuantan and its other districts in Pahang the opportunity to learn about the importance and benefits of science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) education.

Entry into the Pahang MSN 2019 is free-of-charge. It is open to the general public and visitors from all walks of life from 9.00 a.m. to 6.00 p.m.

The exciting activities and programmes include an exhibition, pocket talks, E-sport and robotics competitions. Among the key attractions are also special appearances by Mr. Rizal Khalif, popularly known as Abang Polar, who is the first Malaysian adventurer to explore the Artic by covering 300 kilometres with dogsled.

Another well-known personality is Datuk AC Mizal, a Malaysian actor, singer, comedian and TV host. These renowned personalities will be sharing their positive life experiences, challenges and traits necessary to achieve success.

Visitors, especially students and youths, will also have the opportunity to participate in the exciting Malaysian Robotics Competition – Make X – which is jointly organized by TPM and Telaga Biru Holdings. This highly successful robotic competition was initiated in 2016 and focuses on the pertinent values of STEM education whereby critical thinking is of utmost importance for any individual to move ahead in life in facing all the challenges.

In addition, the TPM will also showcase their expertise in various fields of information technology, computer science, botanical science and green engineering, through activities at their STEM Exploration booth.

Technology Park Malaysia, an agency of the Ministry of Energy, Science, Technology, Environment and Climate Change (MESTECC), has an integrated infrastructure, facilities and support services to assist technopreneurs and entrepreneurs who are keen to commercialize their ideas in the four industry clusters, namely, ICT, Engineering, Biotechnology and Green Technology.
