TUARAN, SABAH, MAY 4 – Technology Park Malaysia Corporation Sdn Bhd (TPM) has once again taken a forward-moving initiative by sharing the vast opportunities and offerings of science, technology and innovation (STI) progrmmes in efforts to enhance and improve the wellbeing and livelihood of the communities in Tuaran, Sabah.

Taking part in the two-day MOSTI STI Outreach Programme organized by the Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation (MOSTI) starting today, TPM will share with the Tuaran communities on the available TPM initiatives and supporting programmes that can help them tap business opportunities in the STI fields.

The MOSTI STI Outreach Programme will be officially graced by caretaker minister, YB Datuk Seri Panglima Madius Tangau.

Living up to its reputation as the leading technology park and driver of the technology and innovation in Malaysia, TPM will be showcasing its capabilities and sharing first-hand information about its facilities, services and expertise available to empower the development and growth of technopreneurship and entrepreneurship, as well as seizing opportunities in the biotechnology sector.

In addition, its Senior Manager Strategic Communication & Stakeholder Relations, Puan Aniz Adura Abdul Majid will address the potential opportunities in a talk entitled “Income Opportunities Through Creativity and Innovation”. Meanwhile, Tuan Syed Mohd Faidz Syed Nokman from the TPM Business Development department will share his thoughts and relevant information on the key subject of “Collaborative Opportunities With TPM”.

Another interesting activity is the TPM Photo Booth on Career in STI which aims to create greater awareness and inspire school children and youth on the importance of STI and abundant opportunities offered by the science, technology, engineering and mathematic education.

TPM President/Chief Executive Officer, Dato’ Ir. Mohd. Azman Shahidin said he is confident that TPM’s participation in this MOSTI-organised outreach programme would offer the Tuaran communities, both young and old, every opportunity to gain a better knowledge of the efforts undertaken by the Government.

“With the rapid global development in technology and innovation, it is pertinent for the people in the rural and semi-urban areas of Malaysia to also be exposed to latest developments and technological advancements towards improving their socio-economic wellbeing.

“We strongly believe in providing equal opportunity for every Malaysian to seize the opportunities in efforts to contribute to the socio-economic growth and transformation of the country. It is also to lend our support to technopreneurs and entrepreneurs towards enhancing the sustainable development and growth of their businesses,” he added.

On TPM’s assistance provided to Sabahan enterprises, Dato’ Ir Mohd Azman said his company had successfully help improved several entrepreneurs and enterprises in the state right from the startup stage to the commercialization of their products and services.

One of the successful Sabahan grassroots entrepreneur whom TPM has assisted is Puan Faridun Nisa Zardad Khan from Sulaman, Kota Kinabalu. She had engaged the services of TPM Biotech Sdn Bhd to formulate and manufacture her chocolate drink and herbal tea under the brand name of Pintar Kid and Tea Misai Kuching, respectively. The business has grown since then and we formulated another two new products for her which is Pintar Minds and Cocoa Collagen.

Technology Park Malaysia Sdn Bhd, an agency of MOSTI, has an integrated infrastructure, facilities and support services to assist technopreneurs and entrepreneurs who are keen to commercialize their ideas in the four industry clusters, namely, ICT, Engineering, Biotechnology and Green Technology.
